Job Description

Our client, a well-established organization delivering complex construction and integrated building solutions, is seeking an experienced Project Manager to join its growing Technology team.

This is an exciting opportunity for a construction Project Manager with exposure to technology infrastructure, building automation, structured cabling, security, or smart building systems. You'll oversee complex, large-scale projects and work closely with clients, consultants, field teams, and subcontractors to successfully deliver technology solutions that are fully integrated into the construction environment.

From occupancy sensors and lighting controls to building automation, security, networking, and IoT technology, you'll play a key role in bringing today's smart buildings to life.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Manage technology and building systems projects from project award through execution, commissioning, and closeout.
  • Develop and maintain project schedules, documentation, change orders, as-built drawings, and project closeout requirements.
  • Coordinate multiple projects and priorities while ensuring work is completed on schedule and within budget.
  • Partner with clients, consultants, engineers, field teams, and subcontractors to support successful project delivery.
  • Manage project risks throughout the full project lifecycle and proactively address issues that could impact schedules, budgets, or deliverables.
  • Monitor project costs, budgets, forecasting, and overall financial performance.
  • Lead and coordinate project resources, including internal employees, unionized field teams, and subcontractors.
  • Communicate technical requirements, site activities, project milestones, and emerging issues to key stakeholders.
  • Review project designs and work with consulting engineers to provide recommendations regarding implementation and constructability.
  • Manage client and project partner relationships, bringing forward practical and innovative solutions.
  • Support estimating activities and assist with project feasibility and costing.
  • Contribute to RFQs, RFPs, technical proposals, and tender submissions for large and complex projects.
  • Track project performance, prepare regular status updates, and escalate risks or concerns when required.
  • Ensure projects are delivered in accordance with client safety requirements and internal health and safety standards.

The Technology You'll Work With

The Technology team delivers integrated solutions that support increasingly connected and intelligent buildings. Depending on the project, you may work with systems including:

  • Building Automation Systems (BAS)
  • Lighting control systems
  • Internet of Things (IoT) technology
  • Real-Time Location Systems (RTLS)
  • Structured cabling and network infrastructure
  • CCTV and security systems
  • Fire alarm systems
  • Occupancy and parking sensor technology
  • Cloud-connected systems
  • Networking and server infrastructure
  • Integrated mechanical and building technology systems

You don't need to be an expert in every technology listed above. However, you should understand how technology infrastructure is incorporated into a construction project, including the coordination of cabling, concrete sleeves, cable trays, and other building systems.

What You Bring

  • A minimum of five years of related project management experience within construction, building systems, technology integration, electrical, automation, or a related environment.
  • Previous exposure to technology systems, structured cabling, BAS, lighting controls, security, IoT, or integrated building systems is highly preferred.
  • Strong understanding of construction project delivery and field operations.
  • Experience managing project schedules, budgets, change orders, risks, and project documentation.
  • Proven ability to coordinate employees, subcontractors, field teams, consultants, and clients.
  • Strong client-facing and relationship management skills.
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving abilities.
  • Related post-secondary education. A degree in Engineering or a related technical discipline is considered an asset.
  • Experience with estimating or Accubid is considered an asset.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and experience with scheduling software such as Microsoft Project or Primavera.
  • PMP designation or progress toward a project management designation is considered an asset.

We are also open to considering a Senior Project Coordinator who has successfully supported or independently managed several projects and is ready to take the next step into a Project Manager position.

Why Consider This Opportunity?

  • Competitive salary ranging from $100,000 to $150,000, based on experience.
  • Benefits available from the start of employment.
  • 4% RRSP contribution.
  • Bonus eligibility of up to 20%, based on project and individual performance.
  • Three to four weeks of vacation, depending on experience.
  • Exposure to large-scale, complex construction and smart building projects.
  • Opportunity to join a growing Technology division with significant project demand and long-term career potential.

Work Environment

This is a highly visible, client-facing Project Manager position. The successful candidate will spend time in the Vaughan office, on active project sites, and meeting directly with clients and project partners.

This is not a traditional work-from-home or hybrid position. We're looking for someone who enjoys being connected to their projects, working closely with field teams, and building strong relationships with clients.

If you're a Project Manager with a strong construction background and an interest in technology, smart buildings, and integrated systems, we'd love to hear from you.
