Manager, Governance, Controls & Compliance (15-Month Contract)
Location: Toronto, ON (Hybrid, 2 days onsite, Wednesdays required)
Compensation: $115,000 to $125,000 annually (T4/INC rates available)
Language: Excellent verbal and written English communication skills required
Duration: 15-month full-time contract
Background Check Requirement: Successful completion of a Criminal Record Check will be required.

Our client, a leading healthcare and research organization, is seeking an experienced Finance Manager to lead a high-performing operational finance team supporting a fast-paced, mission-driven environment. This opportunity is ideal for a collaborative leader who enjoys balancing people leadership with operational excellence while driving continuous process improvements.
Working closely with Finance leadership and cross-functional stakeholders, you will oversee a seasoned team responsible for expense management and financial operations. You'll have the opportunity to mentor staff, improve processes, and contribute to projects that directly support the organization's broader financial and operational goals.

Your Responsibilities
- You'll lead and mentor a team of Finance Analysts, providing coaching, performance management, and day-to-day operational leadership.
- You'll oversee high-volume financial operations, including expense claims, invoice processing, and reimbursement activities while ensuring compliance with organizational policies.
- In this role, you'll support financial reporting activities and collaborate closely with senior finance leadership on operational initiatives and process improvements.
- You'll identify opportunities to streamline workflows, improve efficiencies, and strengthen financial controls across the department.
- You'll build strong relationships with internal stakeholders, providing guidance on financial policies, procedures, and operational best practices.
Skills and Qualifications
- 5+ years of progressive finance leadership experience, including people management responsibilities.
- CPA, CA, CPA Canada, or ACCA designation.
- Strong background in financial accounting, financial reporting, finance operations, or shared services.
- Demonstrated experience leading operational finance teams within a high-volume environment.
- Advanced analytical, problem-solving, and stakeholder management skills.
- Strong proficiency with SAP is highly preferred, with advanced Excel skills and experience using financial systems.
