About the Opportunity
Our municipal sector client is seeking an experienced Insurance and Claims Analyst to support the administration of its insurance and risk management programs. This role is ideal for a knowledgeable insurance professional who enjoys interpreting contractual language, collaborating with stakeholders, and helping minimize organizational risk through effective insurance and claims management.
Working closely with Legal Services, internal departments, insurance brokers, contractors, and consultants, you'll play a key role in ensuring contractual compliance, coordinating claims activities, and supporting risk transfer initiatives. Your expertise will help protect municipal operations while enabling the successful delivery of public services and capital projects.

Your Responsibilities
- You’ll review and assess Certificates of Insurance (COIs), ensuring compliance with municipal insurance requirements and identifying deficiencies requiring corrective action.
- In this role, you’ll review contracts, agreements, permits, and procurement documents, providing recommendations on insurance requirements, indemnification provisions, and other risk transfer mechanisms.
- You’ll provide guidance to internal departments, contractors, consultants, and external stakeholders on insurance requirements and municipal risk management practices.
- You’ll coordinate the administration of liability, property, automobile, and other insurance claims while maintaining accurate documentation and supporting claims resolution.
- You’ll assist with insurance renewals, underwriting submissions, policy administration, and the maintenance of insurance, claims, and risk management records using systems such as ClearRisk.
Skills and Qualifications
- 3+ years of experience in insurance, claims administration, or risk management, preferably within a municipal or broader public sector environment.
- Post-secondary education in Risk Management, Insurance, Business Administration, Public Administration, or a related discipline.
- Demonstrated experience reviewing Certificates of Insurance (COIs), contractual insurance requirements, and drafting or interpreting insurance provisions within agreements.
- Strong understanding of risk transfer principles, including indemnification, additional insured requirements, waivers of subrogation, and commercial insurance coverages.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and experience using ClearRisk or similar claims management systems, combined with exceptional analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
