Working alongside the Risk Management Officer and partnering with internal departments, insurance brokers, and insurers, you'll play an integral role in ensuring insurance compliance, supporting claims administration, and maintaining accurate risk management records. Your work will help safeguard municipal operations while supporting the delivery of essential public services.

You'll join a collaborative municipal environment where your expertise will directly support organizational risk management and operational excellence. This role offers exposure to a wide range of insurance, contractual, and claims-related matters while working alongside experienced professionals.

It's an excellent opportunity to further develop your municipal insurance and risk management experience in a role that values collaboration, continuous learning, and attention to detail.

Your Responsibilities

  • You’ll review and process Certificates of Insurance (COIs), ensuring compliance with municipal requirements and contractual obligations.
  • In this role, you’ll review contractual insurance and indemnification provisions, providing recommendations to support risk mitigation.
  • You’ll coordinate with internal departments, insurance brokers, and insurers to facilitate insurance and risk management activities.
  • You’ll assist with the intake and administration of insurance claims, including auto claims where applicable, while maintaining accurate records and documentation.
  • You’ll prepare reports, claims summaries, and statistical information to support insurance tracking, litigation management, and ongoing risk initiatives.

Skills and Qualifications

  • 3+ years of experience in claims administration, insurance, risk management, or a related field.
  • Demonstrated experience reviewing Certificates of Insurance (COIs) and contractual insurance and indemnification provisions.
  • Municipal insurance or municipal risk management experience is highly preferred.
  • Chartered Insurance Professional (CIP) designation is considered a strong asset, with auto claims experience viewed favorably.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills, with proficiency in Microsoft Office and experience maintaining electronic records.
