Job Description

Location: Ottawa, ON | Hybrid, 1 day on-site per week

About the Opportunity

Our non-profit client is seeking a Senior Coordinator, Social Media to join their Communications, Marketing and Public Affairs team. This newly created role offers an exciting opportunity to strengthen the organization's digital presence while driving member engagement, brand awareness, and community growth across multiple social media channels.

In this role, you will help execute and refine the organization's social media strategy, manage day-to-day channel operations, and create compelling content that resonates with both current and prospective members. Working closely with teams across marketing, education, membership, and volunteer leadership, you will play a key role in fostering meaningful online engagement and ensuring a consistent and impactful digital presence.

Your Responsibilities

  • You'll execute and refine a comprehensive social media strategy aligned with organizational goals and member engagement priorities.
  • You'll manage the social media content calendar and coordinate publishing across platforms including LinkedIn, Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, X, and other relevant channels.
  • You'll create engaging content, including written copy, graphics, and video content tailored to different audiences and platforms.
  • You'll foster online communities by responding to comments, messages, and inquiries while building meaningful engagement with members and stakeholders.
  • You'll monitor, analyze, and report on social media performance metrics, using insights and analytics to optimize campaigns and content strategies.
  • You'll collaborate with internal teams to ensure consistent messaging, branding, and promotion of organizational initiatives and events.
  • You'll provide live social media coverage at events and support strategic planning for digital engagement initiatives.
  • You'll stay current on emerging trends, tools, and best practices while providing guidance to internal teams on effective social media use.

Skills and Qualifications

  • 3-5 years of experience in social media management, including strategy execution, analytics, reporting, and community engagement.
  • Diploma or certificate in Marketing, Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, Social Media Management, or a related field.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in both English and French.
  • Strong knowledge of social media platforms, algorithms, analytics tools, and digital engagement best practices.
  • Experience managing paid social media campaigns and optimizing advertising performance is considered an asset.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe Creative Cloud (Photoshop, Illustrator, Premiere Pro), Canva, and related content creation tools.
  • Strong project management and organizational skills; experience with Asana is considered an asset.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities, work independently, and collaborate effectively within a team environment.
  • Experience working within a non-profit, membership-based, or professional association environment is considered an asset.
