About the Opportunity
Our client, a well-established professional services organization, is seeking a Project Accountant to join their collaborative and fast-paced finance team. This is an excellent opportunity for an early-career project accounting professional who enjoys working closely with project teams, managing multiple priorities, and supporting the financial success of complex projects.
In this role, you'll partner directly with project managers, engineers, and internal stakeholders to oversee project administration, billing, invoicing, and financial tracking. Success in this position requires strong attention to detail, confidence in stakeholder interactions, and the ability to thrive in a high-volume, deadline-driven environment.
What's In It for You
Join a team that values collaboration, accountability, and professional growth. You'll gain exposure to a large portfolio of active projects while working alongside experienced finance professionals who are invested in mentorship and knowledge sharing.
This organization also promotes work-life balance through a hybrid work model, half-day Fridays, and a culture that encourages continuous learning and long-term career development.
Your Responsibilities
You'll manage project setup and maintenance within the organization's project management system, ensuring accurate coding and financial tracking.
You'll prepare client invoices and support project billing activities while ensuring compliance with contract requirements.
You'll monitor accounts receivable balances and assist with collections and payment follow-up activities.
You'll collaborate closely with project managers and technical teams to resolve billing questions and project-related financial issues.
You'll maintain accurate project records and contribute to reporting, analysis, and month-end support activities.
You'll leverage Excel and project accounting tools to support financial accuracy and process efficiency.
Skills and Qualifications
1-3 years of progressive Project Accounting experience.
Experience working within engineering consulting, architecture, construction, or other project-based professional services environments.
Hands-on experience with Deltek Vantagepoint is strongly preferred.
Advanced Excel skills, including Pivot Tables, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, and working knowledge of Macros.
Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage a high volume of projects and competing priorities.
Confident communication skills and the ability to build relationships with both finance and operational stakeholders.
Demonstrated stability in previous employment and a track record of working independently.
Note from the Hiring Manager
"We're looking for someone who enjoys being part of the business, not just working behind the scenes. The right person will be proactive, comfortable asking questions, and confident partnering with project teams to keep things moving forward."
