About the Opportunity
Our client, a respected regulatory and not-for-profit organization, is seeking an experienced Payroll Specialist to play a critical role in ensuring the accuracy, integrity, and compliance of multiple payroll programs. This position sits within a collaborative Finance team and offers the opportunity to support a diverse group of stakeholders while contributing to essential financial operations that impact employees, governance members, adjudicators, and program participants.

Your Responsibilities
- You'll lead the administration and validation of multiple payroll cycles, ensuring compliance with legislative, regulatory, and organizational requirements.
- You'll coordinate payroll processing activities with external payroll service providers, financial institutions, and internal stakeholders.
- You'll prepare payroll journal entries, account reconciliations, source deduction remittances, year-end accruals, and T-slip reporting.
- You'll review remuneration and expense submissions for accuracy, reasonableness, and policy compliance, providing guidance when required.
- You'll support audits by preparing working papers, responding to auditor requests, and maintaining payroll-related records and documentation.
- You'll generate reports and analyses for leadership, committees, government agencies, and service providers.
- You'll act as a trusted resource to internal teams, supporting best practices and providing guidance on payroll processes and compliance requirements.
Skills and Qualifications
- 5+ years of progressive payroll and benefits administration experience, including at least 2 years in a senior-level payroll capacity.
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Accounting, or a related discipline.
- Certified Payroll Leadership Professional (PLP) designation through the National Payroll Institute.
- Strong knowledge of payroll legislation, CRA requirements, source deductions, remittances, benefits administration, and pension processes.
- Experience preparing payroll-related reconciliations, financial reporting, and audit support documentation.
- Proficiency with Dayforce, Microsoft Office 365, and reporting tools such as Cognos or Power BI.
- Excellent analytical, organizational, customer service, and communication skills with exceptional attention to detail.
