Cyber Security IAM Specialist

Location: Ottawa, ON (Hybrid, up to 12 days on-site per month)

Language: English, advanced written and spoken communication required

Duration: Contract through December 31, 2027, with a potential 8-month extension

Background Check Requirement: Must be eligible to obtain a Secret Security Clearance. Candidates must have resided in Canada for a minimum of five years to qualify.

We are recruiting for a Senior Cyber Security IAM Specialist to support a large, highly regulated public sector organization undergoing critical security and modernization initiatives.

In this role, you will work closely with cyber security leaders, architects, technology teams, and business stakeholders to enhance identity governance, privileged access controls, authentication services, and cryptographic readiness. Your expertise will help drive secure, scalable solutions that protect enterprise systems while supporting long-term cyber resilience.

Your Responsibilities
• You'll gather, analyze, document, and validate complex business, technical, and security requirements related to identity and access management initiatives.
• You'll define current and future-state processes, identify dependencies and control points, and support implementation planning.
• You'll design IAM use cases and contribute to improvements in privileged access management, authentication, secrets management, and related cyber controls.
• You'll facilitate workshops, perform stakeholder analysis, identify gaps and risks, and translate business needs into user stories and acceptance criteria.
• You'll develop process documentation, training materials, visual guides, and procedural resources to support user adoption.
• You'll support cryptographic inventory initiatives, dependency mapping, algorithm transition planning, certificate management, and crypto-agility readiness efforts.
• You'll provide guidance and support to cyber security, IT, architecture, operations, compliance, and business teams.

Skills and Qualifications
• 5+ years of progressive experience in information technology and cyber security environments.
• Postsecondary education in computer science, information security, risk management, or a related discipline.
• Demonstrated experience gathering, documenting, validating, and analyzing complex business and system requirements for security-sensitive solutions.
• Strong knowledge of Identity and Access Management (IAM), Privileged Access Management (PAM), credential protection, Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA), Public Key Infrastructure (PKI), and cryptographic controls.
• Experience with privileged access governance, credential vaulting, secrets management, session controls, and service account management.
• Working knowledge of certificate lifecycle management, digital certificates, key management, trust models, and cryptographic dependencies.
• Understanding of cloud-based access controls, Conditional Access Policies, SAML, OATH/OIDC authentication concepts, Zero Trust principles, and post-quantum cryptography considerations.
• Demonstrated experience creating process maps, gap analyses, dependency assessments, traceability matrices, user stories, and acceptance criteria.
• Strong communication, facilitation, stakeholder engagement, documentation, reporting, and analytical skills.
