Altis Recruitment is partnering with a respected organization in the residential construction and real estate development sector to hire a Health and Safety Coordinator. This role is ideal for a detail-oriented health and safety professional who enjoys balancing field-based activities with administrative coordination while helping create safe, compliant, and productive work environments.

You will work closely with construction leadership, human resources, site teams, and trade partners to support health and safety initiatives across multiple projects. Your contributions will help ensure employees and contractors have the training, resources, and support they need to maintain a strong culture of workplace safety.

Your Responsibilities

  • You’ll coordinate safety meetings with employees and trade partners, ensuring clear communication of policies, procedures, and expectations.
  • In this role, you’ll manage and track employee training requirements to maintain compliance with legislative and organizational standards.
  • You’ll participate in and co-chair Joint Health and Safety Committee meetings, documenting discussions and distributing meeting minutes.
  • You’ll support onboarding activities, safety orientations, and other administrative initiatives related to workplace health and safety.
  • You’ll collaborate with construction teams to collect, review, and maintain contractor certifications and compliance documentation.
  • You’ll assist with project safety setup activities, including safety boards, signage, and site-specific requirements.
  • You’ll support inspections, audits, and incident investigations while helping promote safe work practices across all sites.

Skills and Qualifications

  • 1-3 years of health and safety experience, preferably within the construction industry.
  • Knowledge of the Occupational Health and Safety Act and Construction Regulation O. Reg. 213/91.
  • Strong administrative, organizational, and time management skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
  • Proven ability to build positive relationships with employees, trades, and leadership teams.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with exceptional attention to detail.
  • Valid driver’s licence and reliable access to a personal vehicle.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel and Outlook are MUST) and the ability to learn new technologies and systems.
