Your Responsibilities
• You’ll lead the organization’s accounting and financial operations, including budgeting, forecasting, cash management, financial reporting, and audit preparation.
• In this role, you’ll oversee general ledger management, account reconciliations, year-end processes, and the preparation of government and regulatory reporting.
• You’ll coordinate quarterly and annual financial reporting requirements, ensuring compliance with all applicable accounting standards, funding requirements, and organizational policies.
• You’ll provide leadership, coaching, and performance management support to a team of Financial Analysts, fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
• You’ll oversee procurement activities, financial controls, fixed assets, and organizational financial policies to support effective stewardship of resources.
• In partnership with senior leadership, you’ll contribute to annual budgeting, financial forecasting, strategic planning, and operational decision-making.
• When required, you’ll provide financial leadership coverage for the senior finance function, including presenting financial information to executive stakeholders and governance committees.
Skills and Qualifications
• 5+ years of progressive accounting and financial leadership experience in a complex organizational environment.
• CPA designation (or legacy CA, CMA, or CGA designation) and/or a Master’s Degree in Business, Finance, Accounting, or a related discipline.
• Strong knowledge of public sector accounting, grant and fund accounting, budgeting, forecasting, financial statement preparation, and internal controls.
• Thorough understanding of GAAP, auditing standards, financial analysis, variance reporting, and compliance requirements.
• Demonstrated experience leading, coaching, and developing high-performing finance teams, ideally within a unionized environment.
• Intermediate to advanced proficiency with Microsoft Excel and experience working with ERP or financial management systems.
• Experience with Ministry of Ontario financial reporting with xperience working in child welfare considered a strong asset.
