Job Description
Our client is a leading healthcare organization committed to providing exceptional medical services to our community. They are seeking to hire a dedicated and efficient Medical Secretary to join their team on an 8 week contract basis fully onsite in Downtown Toronto, with hours Monday-Friday 8:30am-4:30pm
Key Responsibilities:
- Organizing outpatient clinic schedules
- Promptly responding to phone inquiries from patients and medical offices
- Managing medical documents, whether in physical or electronic format
- Coordinating clinic activities, such as setting up new patient records, welcoming patients, and arranging follow-up appointments and investigations
- Facilitating communication with patients regarding test and consultation schedules, and occasionally sharing test results
- Ensuring timely completion and distribution of consultation notes to referring and collaborating physicians
- Monitoring and replenishing clinical and office supplies
- Handling incoming and outgoing correspondence
- Supporting billing processes, including OHIP billing and managing payments for services not covered by insurance
- Undertaking various administrative tasks, such as coordinating the schedules of medical resident trainees rotating through the clinic
Qualifications:
- Completed Medical Office Administration or equivalent diploma.
- Previous experience in a medical secretary or administrative role is preferred.
- Proficiency with electronic health record (EMR) systems and standard office software.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.
- Understanding of medical terminology and procedures is an asset.
- Ability to maintain patient confidentiality and adhere to ethical standards.
- Knowledge of medical billing and insurance verification is a plus.
