About the Opportunity
An established public sector organization in the post-secondary space is seeking an experienced HR Advisor, Work Design + Compensation to join their Human Resources team during a pivotal period of organizational change and workforce planning. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a highly collaborative labour environment and brings a consultative, relationship-focused approach to compensation, classification, and organizational design work.
Working closely with leaders across the organization, you’ll provide strategic guidance on complex classification matters, compensation recommendations, and collective agreement interpretation within a unionized environment. Your Responsibilities
• You’ll partner with leaders and stakeholders to review, design, and implement job classifications and compensation recommendations
• In this role, you’ll provide consultative guidance on collective agreement interpretation, additional duties pay, and labour code considerations
• You’ll conduct classification reviews and market assessments while balancing internal equity and organizational needs
• You’ll collaborate with union representatives and HR partners to resolve complex compensation and work design matters
• You’ll support organizational change initiatives by advising on workforce design and evolving operational requirements
• You’ll research compensation trends, prepare recommendations, and contribute to process improvements and policy development
Skills and Qualifications
• 3+ years of progressive HR experience in compensation, classification, or job evaluation within a unionized public sector environment
• Strong working knowledge of labor relations principles, collective agreements, and compensation practices within a unionized environment is required.
• Demonstrated experience acting as a trusted business partner, navigating complex stakeholder conversations and resolving issues collaboratively
• Experience within post-secondary, broader public sector, or unionized non-profit organizations is strongly preferred
• Ability to assess organizational needs while balancing legislative requirements, market competitiveness, and internal equity
• Strong analytical, communication, and relationship management skills with a collaborative and solutions-oriented mindset
• CPHR, CCP, CMS, or related HR certification considered an asset
