About the Opportunity
Altis Recruitment is partnering with a well-established organization in the funeral and cemetery services sector to hire an Administrative Assistant to support a collaborative Cemetery Services team. This newly created role was designed to provide day-to-day operational and administrative support to a group of Cemetery Counsellors, helping ensure families receive timely, compassionate, and professional service during important moments in their lives.
Working from the organization’s Ottawa office, you’ll be part of a close-knit and supportive team environment that balances professionalism with a positive and welcoming culture. You’ll collaborate closely with counsellors, funeral directors, and office staff while contributing to projects, file management, customer inquiries, and operational coordination across multiple locations.

Your Responsibilities
- You’ll provide day-to-day administrative support to Cemetery Counsellors, helping manage files, documentation, CRM updates, and client follow-ups.
- In this role, you’ll assist families with inquiries, status updates, and general support when additional assistance is needed.
- You’ll coordinate records, complete file reviews, and ensure documentation remains accurate and compliant.
- You’ll support projects related to website updates, pricing documentation, marketing initiatives, and internal communications materials.
- You’ll assist with marketing collateral, email communications, and handouts using tools such as Canva or similar design platforms.
- You’ll occasionally go on-site within the cemetery grounds to verify inventory, locate gravesites, and take photographs for records and client follow-up.
- You’ll collaborate with funeral directors and internal departments to ensure smooth communication and service coordination across the organization.
Skills and Qualifications
- 2+ years of administrative, office support or sales support experience.
- Professional and compassionate communication skills with the ability to support families in sensitive situations.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail in a fast-paced administrative environment.
- Experience using CRM systems, databases, or record management software.
- Comfortable creating or updating marketing materials using Canva, Adobe Express, or similar tools.
- Previous experience within the funeral industry, healthcare, or medical office environments is considered an asset.
- A proactive, outgoing, and team-oriented personality with the ability to work collaboratively in an office setting.
