About the Opportunity
An established healthcare organization is seeking a Payroll Associate to join a collaborative payroll and HR administration team supporting a large, complex workforce. This opportunity is ideal for a payroll professional who enjoys balancing high-volume transactional work with legislation, compliance, and data accuracy in a people-focused environment.
In this role, you’ll work closely with payroll specialists, HR colleagues, managers, and internal stakeholders to ensure employees are paid accurately and on time while maintaining the integrity of sensitive employee data. Your Responsibilities
• You’ll process employee payroll and HR transactions including hires, leaves, terminations, and employee changes within Oracle PeopleSoft
• In this role, you’ll support bi-weekly payroll processing for a large employee population while ensuring accuracy and compliance
• You’ll review and validate workflow transactions, approvals, and supporting documentation in accordance with internal policies and legislative requirements
• You’ll calculate retroactive payments, process manual payments as required, and support overpayment recovery activities
• You’ll respond to payroll and HR inquiries from employees, managers, and internal stakeholders with a strong client-service approach
• You’ll maintain confidential employee records and support payroll audit and verification processes
• You’ll contribute to process improvement initiatives by updating internal documentation and supporting operational efficiencies
Skills and Qualifications
• 3-5 years of payroll processing experience, within a high-volume unionized environment
• PCP designation completed or in progress is required
• Experience using Oracle PeopleSoft and time management systems is considered an asset
• Strong understanding of payroll legislation, compliance requirements, and Ontario Employment Standards Act
• Ability to understand the full payroll lifecycle including pay processing, deductions, T4 implications, and legislative impact
• Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills with the ability to manage multiple deadlines
• Excellent interpersonal skills with a demonstrated commitment to confidentiality, collaboration, and client service
