About the Opportunity
An established global organization within the insurance and financial services sector is seeking a Senior Accountant to join its Financial Reporting team in Toronto. This role is ideal for a technically strong accounting professional who thrives in a fast-paced reporting environment and enjoys owning complex financial statements from end to end.
Working closely with Finance, Actuarial, Treasury, and Accounting teams across multiple regions, you’ll play a key role in delivering accurate quarterly and annual reporting under US GAAP. You’ll also contribute to a major finance transformation initiative as the organization transitions its ledger environment from PeopleSoft to Oracle, offering valuable exposure to systems modernization and cross-functional collaboration.

Your Responsibilities
• You’ll prepare quarterly and annual US GAAP financial statements, cash flow statements, and shareholder equity reporting
• You’ll support month-end and quarter-end close activities through journal entries, reconciliations, analysis, and reporting deliverables
• You’ll collaborate with Accounting, Actuarial, Treasury, and Finance teams to gather and validate financial inputs for reporting purposes
• You’ll investigate variances, assess reporting accuracy, and challenge information where needed to ensure high-quality financial outputs
• You’ll support audit requests, internal controls, and compliance activities within established reporting frameworks
• You’ll contribute to finance transformation initiatives and support process improvements tied to future systems changes
Skills and Qualifications
• 3+ years of post-qualified accounting experience within insurance, reinsurance, or financial services environments
• CPA designation or equivalent professional accounting qualification
• Strong hands-on experience preparing and analyzing US GAAP financial statements
• Experience supporting statutory, management, or regulatory reporting in a controlled environment
• Exposure to insurance reporting, financial services, or Big 4 audit experience supporting insurance clients
• Strong communication skills with the ability to interact confidently with senior stakeholders and business leaders
• Highly organized, detail-oriented, and able to manage competing deadlines in a collaborative environment
