About the Opportunity
Our client, a mission-driven organization in the education and non-profit sector, is seeking a detail-oriented and service-focused Accounts Receivable Coordinator to support student financial services and day-to-day accounting operations. This role plays an important part in helping students navigate tuition payments, financial processes, and account management, while also contributing to the accuracy and integrity of the organization’s financial operations.
Working closely with the Controller, Student Services team, and internal departments, you’ll be part of a collaborative environment that values professionalism, accountability, and continuous improvement. Your Responsibilities
- In this role, you’ll manage student accounts receivable processes, including tuition payments, collections follow-up, payment plans, and account reconciliations.
- You’ll support students by responding to inquiries related to tuition, fees, payment plans, and statements of account with professionalism and empathy.
- You’ll oversee finance inbox coordination, ensuring inquiries are responded to promptly and routed appropriately across departments.
- You’ll process and reconcile student loan disbursements, scholarships, bursaries, and related financial transactions within established timelines.
- You’ll assist with audit preparation by compiling supporting documentation, transaction records, and year-end working papers.
- You’ll collaborate with internal teams to improve financial processes, identify efficiencies, and support cross-functional finance initiatives.
- You’ll provide ongoing administrative and accounting support to the Controller and broader finance team as needed.
Skills and Qualifications
- 2–3 years of progressive experience in an accounting or accounts receivable role, preferably within an educational or non-profit environment.
- Accounting diploma required, CPA designation or active enrollment in the CPA program is considered an asset.
- Strong understanding of accounts receivable, collections, general ledger functions, and financial reconciliation processes.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with a customer-service mindset and the ability to build positive relationships across departments.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and strong working knowledge of MS Office applications.
- Experience using Dynamics 365 Business Central or similar accounting systems is preferred.
- Highly organized with strong attention to detail, sound judgment, and the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.
