The Opportunity

The organization is seeking a strategic and hands-on Director of Finance to lead the finance function in a fast-paced residential renovation environment. Reporting to executive leadership, this role will play a critical part in financial planning, cash flow management, operational decision-making, and long-term business strategy.

The successful candidate will bring strong technical accounting expertise, leadership capabilities, and experience supporting project-based operations within the renovation, construction, or home services industry.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead all financial operations across multiple business units and residential development projects, ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting
• Remain actively involved in day-to-day financial operations while providing strategic leadership and support to executive decision-making.
• Oversee month-end and year-end financial reporting processes, including preparation and review of financial statements
• Manage organizational cash flow forecasting, liquidity planning, and financing requirements to support ongoing operations and growth initiatives
• Provide detailed financial analysis, project reporting, and profitability assessments to support operational and strategic decision-making
• Review construction contracts, development agreements, and vendor arrangements to identify financial exposure, operational impact, and areas of risk
• Support enterprise risk management initiatives, ensuring strong internal controls, compliance, and mitigation strategies are in place
• Lead audit preparation and maintain relationships with external auditors, financial institutions, and professional advisors

Qualifications & Experience

• 5+ years of progressive accounting and finance experience, including senior leadership experience at the Controller or Director level
• Proven experience within residential construction, real estate development, or other project-based industries
• Experience overseeing month-end and year-end close processes within complex organizations
• Demonstrated experience reviewing contracts, managing financial risk, and supporting operational decision-making
• Strong leadership, interpersonal, communication, and conflict resolution skills
