About the Opportunity

Our client, a well-established non-profit organization dedicated to community impact and social well-being, is seeking a Financial Controller to join their leadership team. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced finance professional who enjoys balancing strategic financial oversight with hands-on operational accounting in a collaborative, mission-driven environment.

Working closely with the Chief Financial Officer and organizational leadership, you’ll play a key role in supporting long-term financial sustainability, driving process improvements, and ensuring accurate, timely financial reporting. You’ll also lead and mentor a dedicated finance team while partnering cross-functionally with internal stakeholders to support programs and services that make a meaningful difference in the community.

Your Responsibilities

  • You’ll oversee the full accounting cycle, including financial reporting, reconciliations, and year-end preparation
  • In this role, you’ll lead the annual budgeting and forecasting process in partnership with the CFO and leadership team
  • You’ll manage and mentor a finance team, supporting performance, collaboration, and development
  • You’ll take the lead on external audits, regulatory filings, and compliance requirements
  • You’ll identify opportunities to improve financial processes, controls, and reporting efficiencies
  • In this position, you’ll prepare monthly and quarterly financial reporting packages and support board-level reporting requirements
  • You’ll act as a trusted finance partner across the organization, supporting strategic and operational decision-making

Skills and Qualifications

  • 7+ years of progressive accounting and finance experience, including leadership responsibilities
  • CPA designation required
  • Experience within non-profit, charitable, public sector, or complex organizational environments preferred
  • Strong knowledge of full-cycle accounting, budgeting, forecasting, and audit management
  • Advanced Excel skills with experience working across financial systems and reporting tools
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to collaborate across all levels of an organization
