About the Opportunity
Our client, a global organization in the consumer goods and distribution space, is expanding its Canadian operations with the launch of a new distribution centre. This newly created Transportation Specialist role will play a key part in ensuring smooth, efficient domestic freight operations while supporting a high-performing logistics function.
In this role, you will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams across Canada and the US, contributing to both day-to-day operations and data-driven decision-making. Your Responsibilities
• You’ll oversee daily transportation operations at the distribution centre, ensuring the right carrier is assigned to the right lane
• You’ll coordinate and schedule carriers while maintaining strong relationships with terminals and dispatch teams
• You’ll manage freight claims, including damaged or lost shipments, and support invoicing approvals
• You’ll perform quality checks and monitor service levels to ensure operational excellence
• You’ll analyze transportation data and generate reports to support business decisions and cost optimization initiatives
• You’ll collaborate with internal teams to manage volume fluctuations and support special logistics projects
Skills and Qualifications
• 3–5 years of experience in transportation, logistics, or supply chain
• Hands-on experience in a warehouse or distribution centre environment
• Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and Power BI
• Demonstrated ability to manage domestic freight operations
• Excellent communication skills with a proactive, solutions-oriented mindset
• Highly collaborative with strong organizational and problem-solving abilities
