Location: Toronto, ON (Remote with some flexibility)
Language: English, strong written and verbal communication required
Duration: 1 year contract, with the possibility of an extension

About the Opportunity
Our client, a large and complex public sector organization, is seeking a seasoned IT Principal Architect to play a critical role in shaping enterprise-wide technology strategy. This position sits at the intersection of business and technology, guiding architecture decisions that directly impact service delivery, modernization, and long-term digital transformation.

You will collaborate closely with domain architects, technical SMEs, and senior leadership to ensure alignment between business capabilities and technology solutions. This is an opportunity to influence strategic direction, champion best practices, and help build a resilient, future-ready architecture framework in a highly impactful environment.

Your Responsibilities
• You’ll lead enterprise architecture assessments, identifying capability gaps and recommending cost-effective solutions
• You’ll guide and support domain architects in developing architecture deliverables and governance materials
• In this role, you’ll drive IT strategy and roadmap development aligned to business priorities
• You’ll facilitate Architecture Review Board sessions, presenting and defending architectural decisions
• You’ll contribute to risk assessments, policies, and standards aligned with industry best practices
• You’ll evaluate emerging technologies and support system selection and procurement processes

Skills and Qualifications
• 10+ years of progressive enterprise architecture experience across business, information, application, infrastructure, and security domains
• Proven experience leading architecture strategy, roadmaps, and transformation initiatives in complex environments
• Strong technical knowledge across SaaS platforms, cloud, networking, identity management, and security frameworks
• Experience with tools and platforms such as Microsoft M365, Azure, ServiceNow, and enterprise data systems
• Demonstrated ability to develop architecture artifacts, options analyses, and present to diverse stakeholders
• Exceptional leadership, stakeholder management, and communication skills
