We are partnering with a large, privately owned organization in the manufacturing sector seeking an HR Generalist to support one of its busiest unionized production sites. This is a people-focused role where your visibility and presence on the plant floor will make an immediate impact. You’ll join a growing HR function that supports a network of facilities, working closely with leaders, corporate teams, and the hourly workforce.
In this role, you’ll be part of an established HR team that includes Labour Relations, Talent Acquisition, and site leaders. You’ll contribute to a workplace that is navigating growth, change, and modernization, playing an essential role in employee relations, investigations, and ongoing organizational shifts. In this role, you’ll serve as the main HR point of contact for the hourly workforce, offering guidance and support across day-to-day HR matters.
You’ll conduct regular plant walks, building visibility and trust with employees across multiple shifts.
You’ll support grievances, interviews, and investigations, ensuring timely follow-up and consistent documentation.
You’ll partner with leaders on coaching, performance conversations, layoffs, and organizational changes.
You’ll assist with annual training requirements such as AODA and Harassment Prevention.
You’ll collaborate with the HR team on policy communication, site updates, and change management initiatives.
You’ll contribute to process efficiencies and support ongoing HR technology improvements.
5 to 7 years of progressive HR experience, ideally within a manufacturing environment
At least 2 years of Labour Relations experience supporting a unionized environment
Experience conducting investigations and managing grievances
Ability to build strong relationships across shifts, including occasional early morning or evening visibility on the plant floor
Familiarity with HRIS systems
A collaborative, adaptable, and resilient approach to supporting a dynamic work environment
Post-secondary education in HR or a related field; CHRP is an asset
