About the Opportunity

We are partnering with a large, privately owned organization in the manufacturing sector seeking an HR Generalist to support one of its busiest unionized production sites. This is a people-focused role where your visibility and presence on the plant floor will make an immediate impact. You’ll join a growing HR function that supports a network of facilities, working closely with leaders, corporate teams, and the hourly workforce.

In this role, you’ll be part of an established HR team that includes Labour Relations, Talent Acquisition, and site leaders. You’ll contribute to a workplace that is navigating growth, change, and modernization, playing an essential role in employee relations, investigations, and ongoing organizational shifts. If you’re energized by hands-on HR work, building rapport on the plant floor, and guiding leaders through complex people matters, this is a meaningful opportunity to grow your expertise.

What’s in it for You

You’ll join a workplace that values collaboration, transparency, and continuous improvement. This is an opportunity to grow your Labour Relations experience while gaining exposure to coaching, training, organizational change, and HR systems transformation. You’ll be part of a committed HR team that supports learning, provides mentorship, and encourages new ideas as the organization continues to evolve.

Your Responsibilities

  • In this role, you’ll serve as the main HR point of contact for the hourly workforce, offering guidance and support across day-to-day HR matters.

  • You’ll conduct regular plant walks, building visibility and trust with employees across multiple shifts.

  • You’ll support grievances, interviews, and investigations, ensuring timely follow-up and consistent documentation.

  • You’ll partner with leaders on coaching, performance conversations, layoffs, and organizational changes.

  • You’ll assist with annual training requirements such as AODA and Harassment Prevention.

  • You’ll collaborate with the HR team on policy communication, site updates, and change management initiatives.

  • You’ll contribute to process efficiencies and support ongoing HR technology improvements.

Skills and Qualifications

  • 5 to 7 years of progressive HR experience, ideally within a manufacturing environment

  • At least 2 years of Labour Relations experience supporting a unionized environment

  • Experience conducting investigations and managing grievances

  • Ability to build strong relationships across shifts, including occasional early morning or evening visibility on the plant floor

  • Familiarity with HRIS systems

  • A collaborative, adaptable, and resilient approach to supporting a dynamic work environment

  • Post-secondary education in HR or a related field; CHRP is an asset

Note from the Hiring Manager

“We’re looking for someone who is confident in a hands-on HR environment, comfortable navigating union matters, and willing to build real relationships on the plant floor. If you enjoy problem solving, staying calm under pressure, and helping people through change, you’ll thrive here.”
