About the Opportunity
Join a highly respected public sector organization within the energy and regulatory space. This is a unique opportunity to act as the "face of HR" in a respectful, inclusive workplace that prides itself on economic and social impact. You will join a flat structure where autonomy is encouraged, and the team culture is genuinely kind and collaborative.
In this role, you will work in a "roll up your sleeves" environment where no task is too big or too small. Whether you are leading a complex unionized search or helping the team organize an open house, your contributions will directly support a high-functioning group of professionals.
What’s in it for You
Empowerment and Ownership: You will have the freedom to run the show regarding your processes and projects, acting as a trusted advisor to leadership.
Collaborative Culture: Join a team that values kindness and inclusivity, where colleagues actively support one another to meet shared goals.
Professional Growth: Gain significant exposure to complex unionized frameworks and high-volume recruitment within a regulated environment.
Your Responsibilities
You’ll lead the end-to-end recruitment cycle for a volume of 40-50 requests per year, ranging from administrative clerks to C-suite executives.
In this role, you’ll design interview guides and act as a strategic partner to hiring managers, steering them through the selection process to get hires across the finish line.
You’ll navigate complex collective agreements (such as Society of United Professionals or OPSU), ensuring all hiring practices are compliant and creative within union bounds.
You’ll manage relationships with internal stakeholders with high political acuity, particularly when searches face challenges or delays.
You’ll wear multiple hats to support the broader team, assisting with job fairs, employer branding, and internal cultural events.
Skills and Qualifications
5+ years of progressive experience as a Talent Acquisition Specialist, with a strong preference for backgrounds in the public sector, utilities, or regulated industries.
Deep understanding of unionized recruitment environments and the ability to interpret collective agreements.
Proven ability to build credibility with hiring managers and influence decisions at a senior level.
Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage the full cycle from sourcing to onboarding in a fast-paced setting.
A collaborative, customer-centric mindset with the flexibility to pivot between strategic consulting and hands-on administrative tasks.
Note from the Hiring Manager
“I’m looking for a seasoned partner who is ready to come in and run the show. Because we have a flat structure, I trust my team to own their processes and manage the day-to-day without a lot of oversight. We’re a respectful, inclusive group, so we need someone who has the political acuity to manage relationships but is also willing to roll up their sleeves and help the team whenever needed.”
