About the Opportunity

Altis Recruitment is partnering with a respected national organization in the non-profit sector to hire a Senior Finance Officer to support a growing and evolving finance function. This role is a key addition to a lean team, focused on strengthening financial processes, improving reporting, and ensuring consistency across a multi-branch environment. You will play a central role in stabilizing month-end close activities and supporting financial operations that impact stakeholders across Canada.

Working closely with the Director of Finance and a small, collaborative team, you will act as a hands-on accounting expert and trusted resource. This is an ideal opportunity for a senior accounting professional who enjoys building structure, working cross-functionally, and contributing to meaningful organizational impact.

What’s In It for You

This role offers the opportunity to join a stable organization with a strong mission and a collaborative team culture. You will have the autonomy to shape processes, improve workflows, and make a visible impact within the finance function.

With a hybrid work model and a balanced 35-hour work week, the organization promotes a culture that values flexibility, collaboration, and professional growth. This is a strong opportunity for someone looking to deepen their technical expertise while positioning themselves for future leadership opportunities.

Your Responsibilities

  • You’ll lead and execute the month-end close process, ensuring accuracy and consistency in financial reporting
  • In this role, you’ll prepare and review journal entries, reconciliations, and financial statements
  • You’ll support budget tracking and provide analysis to inform leadership decision-making
  • You’ll identify opportunities to improve accounting processes and help formalize workflows
  • You’ll collaborate with internal teams and regional stakeholders to support financial operations
  • You’ll act as a key resource within the finance team, providing guidance and support as needed

Skills and Qualifications

  • 5+ years of progressive accounting experience with strong month-end ownership
  • Fully bilingual in English and French, both written and spoken
  • Experience with financial reporting, budgeting, and reconciliations
  • Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial processes
  • Experience working in small or lean finance teams
  • Proficiency in Excel and experience with accounting or ERP systems
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate across teams

Note from the Hiring Manager

“We’re looking for someone who can step in and bring structure and consistency to our finance function. This role is hands-on and requires someone who understands month-end processes, can support budgeting, and works well with a small team. Bilingual communication is essential as we work with teams across the country. Over time, there is an opportunity for this role to grow into a leadership position.”
