Job Description

We have an exciting contract opportunity for a Generative AI & Data Consultant in Ottawa, ON. This is a 6-month contract with potential to extend. This is an exciting opportunity to work for a large-scale education industry client. 

Our client is seeking a consultant to
provide expertise and guidance in establishing a comprehensive Generative AI (Gen AI) Platform and strengthening their Gen AI Capabilities. The consultant will work closely with internal stakeholders to define the strategic vision, develop the technical roadmap, and oversee the execution of this transformative initiative. 

Key Details
  • Hours: 7-hours per day
  • Hybrid: 2-3 days onsite per week

  • Supplies: The consultant will need to have their own laptop with the ability to VPN into their network if required.
  • Deliverables: strategic roadmap and recommendations; operational frameworks and blueprints; implementation of Gen AI Platform building blocks and deployment plans
Responsibilities
  • Strategic Roadmap and Recommendations: 
    • A comprehensive strategy and technical roadmap for the university's Generative AI (Gen AI) foundation and data analytics initiatives 
    • Recommendations on the appropriate Gen AI platforms, tools, and technologies to be implemented 
    • Strategies for integrating Gen AI capabilities with the university's existing systems and processes 
  • Operational Frameworks and Blueprints: 
    • Data governance framework, including policies, data cataloging, and data quality processes 
    • Design of standardized reporting and analytics templates (e.g., Power BI dashboards) tailored to the university's key metrics and requirements 
    • Guidelines and best practices for ensuring AI safety, security, and ethics within the Gen AI framework 
  • Implementation and Deployment Plans: 
    • Detailed plans, technical building blocks, for the deployment and integration of Gen AI solutions (e.g., AI personal assistants, AI-driven workflows) 
    • Data integration and data-cleaning processes to enhance the university's data analytics capabilities 
    • Training and change management programs to facilitate the adoption of Gen AI and data analytics technologies among faculty, staff, and students 
  • Continuous Improvement and Optimization: 
    • Strategies for monitoring and evaluating the performance and impact of the Gen AI and data analytics initiatives 
    • Recommendations for iterative improvements and enhancements to the university's Gen AI foundation and data analytics capabilities 
    • Knowledge transfer and training plans to ensure the university's internal teams can sustain and expand the Gen AI and data analytics programs 
Qualifications
  • Extensive experience in designing and implementing Generative AI platforms and chatbot solutions within a higher education or similar complex organization. 
  • Proven expertise in data governance, data architecture, and the development of advanced data analytics capabilities, including the use of tools like Power BI. 
  • Strong understanding of AI safety, security, and ethical principles, and the ability to integrate these considerations into the overall solution. 
  • Demonstrated experience in leading large-scale, cross-functional technology initiatives and driving organizational change. 
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with diverse teams and translate technical concepts into business outcomes. 
  • Deep knowledge of the higher education landscape and the unique challenges and opportunities within the sector. 
  • Familiarity with the our client's academic, administrative, and research priorities, as well as its existing technology infrastructure and capabilities 
Education
  • Master's degree in a relevant field, such as Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Science, or Business Administration. 
  • Additional certifications or training in areas such as Generative AI, Data Governance, Project Management, or Change Management would be highly desirable. 
  • Preference for candidates with a background or experience in the Canadian higher education sector, or those with an understanding of the industry specific context and requirements.
